Koue Bokkeveld, Western Cape
Koue Bokkeveld is a farming area located about two and a half hours’ drive from Cape Town. There are more than forty farms in the Koue Bokkeveld area, and on most of these farms there are housing areas where the farm workers live. In Koue Bokkeveld there is also a town called Op die Berg (literally translated as ‘On the Mountain’). Koue Bokkeveld predominantly consists of Afrikaans speaking people, but there are also many Xhosa and Sotho speaking seasonal workers who come to live and work in Koue Bokkeveld during the harvest season.
JAM works with the youth and children in Op die Berg, as well as on many of the farms in Koue Bokkeveld. We have been working in Koue Bokkeveld since 2008, and it has been exciting to see how children with whom we worked a few years ago, have grown up and become part of our youth leadership group. In 2015, we started a youth team in Koue Bokkeveld that would continue with outreach in the area even while we are in Cape Town. In partnership with the local churches in Koue Bokkeveld, we train and guide this team to influence and disciple youth and children. The idea is to see disciples making more disciples in Koue Bokkeveld, and to see a multiplication of young people with Godly character.
Pray for Koue Bokkeveld...
