Cape Town, Western Cape

Immizamo Yethu Township  "IY"
This is the first township JAM worked in. In fact, before JAM was in existence, we presented holiday camps for kids from IY on Apostle Battery.  IY is now home to thousands of people from other  African countries, which gives us an amazing opportunity to reach the nations.  JAM’s involvement in IY has taken on various shapes and sizes.  JAM currently has three focus areas -  Donts'eyakhe, Sakhisiswe and Jesus Kids.

Donts’eyakhe
Donts'eyakhe is located at the highest point of the township and very secluded from the main roads. Donts’eyakhe , unlike the rest of IY, have not enjoyed the privileges that NGO’s and churches bring. We have built amazing relationship with people through house visits and have been able to share the Gospel and serve through service projects etc.

We are so privileged to have met Thembisa through our visits in Donts'eyakhe. We have helped her to establish a functioning Day Care called Sizamele. She has been equipped with resources and educational talks to assist her to present age appropriate stimulating activities for the children.

Sakhisiswe
Sakhisiswe Youth Development Program is an after school program that provides a holistic program for the youth o IY. They offer  mentorship and leadership support to young people (13-25 years of age). They focus on academic support, life skills, their spiritual journey and creativity.

The JAM team assist with their Friday Youth evenings. We are also journeying with their mentors; providing support and leadership training.

Jesus Kids (JK)
JAM is helping the Dutch Reformed of Hout Bay with one of their outreach initiatives in IY. They reach out to about 120 children every second week with a bible lesson and a meal.

The JAM team also recently starting a program for the young leaders  that helps out with the Children. They are currently going through a discipleship course combined with some leadership training. Our heart is to empower these young leaders from the community to not only lead JK independently, but to also be ethical leaders in their community.

Gap & Vybe Youth Group (Valley Church)
For two years now, JAM has been helping out with a youth group, GAP/VYBE ages 12-18, from the local church(Valley), we attend here in Hout Bay. The group is divided into two groups and is lead by two of the church's leaders. As JAM we go and help them with the kids however we can. "Youth night" is every Wednesday evenings and the program consists of games, a lesson/teaching and worship.  In addition to Wednesday night youth group, JAM has more recently started Mentorship Groups, where JAM Team members spend time with a small group of Valley’s youth, mentoring and guiding them in the ways of Christ.  The children have beautiful hearts for the Lord and it is a privilege to work alongside Valley Church in raising these students up in becoming godly men and women with a heart for the Lord.
